Wonderful Christmas

Author: Bake

Christmas 2004 was a good time. The weather cooperated and travel was good for all our family. We split the weekend between our familys and ate a lot of good food. Kiersten of course was spoiled with lots of good presents. Here's a few pics of her over the weekend.

Yesterday's commute home from work was nice with me admiring a few snowflakes falling. I pulled into my driveway and noticed that it was actually lightly covered with snow and the neighbors on the other side were just wet. I jokingly thought I should fire up the snowblower and give Stacie a chuckle. But no I went inside and snacked on some peanut clusters. When Stacie and Kiersten arrived home the snow had picked up. I was surprised to see the 1/2 inch Mr. Gertz had said we'd get (during the 5:00PM news) had turned into about 2 inches.

Feeling lazy I fired up the new snowthrower and tested her out. Seemed to work better after I completely filled the gas tank. I need to adjust the shovel plate because it was constantly throwing snow under it and back between my feet.

Christmas is only a few days away and as usual I'm behind on getting gifts. Oh well...it's just not Christmas unless I'm out shopping on Christmas Eve.

Oh the gluttony

Author: Bake

Holiday potluck at work today and boy is the food looking good. Lots of snacking goodies were brought in for this. So far I've indulged on a...scotharoo, creme puff, tortilla wrap, and some chips and dip. I know what I'll be doing for lunch.
Grandpa and Grandma are coming to babysit tonight so Stacie and I can attend her work Christmas party. We realized late Wed night that we hadn't even thought about getting a babysitter yet. Oops!
The weatherman was talking about a white Christmas being possible. Looks like I might get some use out of my new toy.

Stupid head colds

Author: Bake

As usual my head cold has set in. Figured it would as soon as the dry cold air took over. Ever seen the movie Total Recall with Arnie? Yeah, well the one scene where he removes that large silver ball from his nostril that was a tracking...that's what I felt like I had in my nose last night.

Kiersten has been Ms. Grumpy pants for the last day or so. We're guessing teething issues cause she's drooling like crazy and wants to chew on things.

The weekend was good. We saw my dad graduate and then Kiersten got to go swimming with her cousins Friday night. She had a blast in the pool!

My jinx is holding. Saw the forcast Monday night and it's dry and cool for a while.

I got a bunch of pics to upload as soon as I get them off my camera.

No snow this winter??

Author: Bake

Well to answer that question I'd say yes. I purchased a snow thrower this week and Murphy's Law will prove that we'll have a mild winter now that I wouldn't have to scoop by hand. As evidence...last Fall I stopped at the last minute and didn't buy a snow thrower....and what happened...we got gobs and gobs of snow all winter.

Congrats to my dad who is graduating this weekend from Southwest Minnesota State with an MBA. He went back to school a few years ago and after much hard work now has completed getting his Masters.

Driveway Ornament

Well after 2 trips to Colorado and many many other road trip miles I finally sent the old Maxima on to a new owner. My drab gray driveway ornament that adorned the extra space is now gone. All that remains is a couple oil stains to remind me of it.

Turkey day has come and gone. I ate a lot and I'm feeling it today. Kudos to my brother in law for his Cajun seasoned bird that was my undoing. All in all Thanksgiving dinner was excellent.

Here's a few pics of Kiersten playing with her cousins.

Turkey Day tomorrow!

Author: Bake

It's almost Turkey Day. We'll be eating deep fried turkey at my sisters on Thursday and then on Friday night it's off to Hickory Park with the Bergeson side. On Saturday Stacie's side is coming to Des Moines and looking to do some serious shopping.

I'll be celebrating Turkey Day early by riding in the 4th Annual Turkey Day ride at the Science Center.(http://www.centraliowatrails.org/) Hopefully burning off a few calories before the big meal(s).

Enjoy y0ur Turkey!

So I guess I'm jumping on the blog bandwagon too. No, you can't expect this blog to garner national attention. This will be a place for family and friends to keep up with the Baker family and more importantly....Kiersten. Hopefully I'm better at posting and updating this list than my website.
