Labor Day Weekend

What a busy weekend again. On Saturday I was busy with my new business venture...taking pictures of a bike race up in Boone, Iowa. I'd prefered to be
actually racing but I couldn't devote enough time to be there for 24 hrs (it was a 24 hr race) so I shot pictures all afternoon on Saturday. I ended up taking about
300 some photos and have already had several want to buy their pics.
On Sunday we rented a pontoon with the Bergeson's and headed out on Lake Red Rock. The weather was absolutely perfect when we headed out and we
were all stoked for a fun day on the water. We had some lunch and threw anchor for a bit and swam. Kiersten was having a blast and all was good. Then we
started out to putt around the lake some more. I kept looking up at some ugly clouds that were moving in overhead. Trying to be optimistic I kept my mouth
shut...then it hit. Looking back across the lake I could see the wind picking up and the waves starting. A cold front was passing thru and wasn't stopping. The
wind kicked quite a bit. With the wind kicking up some serious waves I started looking for a bay or cove to pull in to. I finally found one and we hid in there for
about an hour. Once the skies had cleared we decided to venture out. Our mistake here was continueing on north with the wind. We putted quite a ways and
finally parked in another calm spot. We put down anchor and swam some more. I kept looking around the point hoping the white caps had gone away....NOPE.
With supper time looming we had the daunting task of heading south into the wind. I told everyone to stow everything that couldn't get wet and crossed my
fingers. Within two minutes of battling the waves I misjudged my first wave. The front of the boat went up and then it went down....way way down. I felt the boat
pitch hard and I knew it wasn't going to be good....and it wasn't. The front of the boat went under and a wall of water went all the way to the back of the boat.
Shannon, Stacie, Bruce and Kiersten were sitting in the very back and they got soaked. I decided a different tactic was needed so I started zig zagging a lot
more. It took a while but we finally made it back to the boat ramp. Once there the owners took the job of putting it back on the trailer and we got to watch as she
put a dent in one pontoon when she hit the dock. Unfortunately I was still on board and got thrown pretty good when she hit.
On Monday we ventured to American and purchased a new bed. We upgraded to a king sized pillowtop by Sterns and Foster. Hopefully this one is a little
kinder to Stacie since she has to sleep on her side now. On Wed Jacob and I picked it up and fanaggled it upstairs. Thank goodness them things are
bendable. It was a tight fit but we got her done after some pushing, cussing and pulling. After that we took his chainsaw and finally won the battle against the
stump in the backyard. Now I have a nice big hole to fill back in.
Now since I've been a slouch in posting here is a bunch of pictures.
